Getting Eating and Drinking Sorted for the Long Weekend

As the long weekend approaches, it’s the perfect time to start planning how to make it memorable, and that often revolves around good food and drinks!
Whether you’re hosting friends, enjoying a quiet getaway, or just relaxing at home, getting your meal prep sorted can make all the difference. Here are some tips to ensure your long weekend is filled with deliciousness:

1. **Plan Your Menu:** Start by deciding what meals you want to prepare. Consider breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Think about dishes that can be easily shared or made in large quantities, like lasagnes, BBQ items, or even a ploughman's table!

2. **Make a Shopping List:** Once you have your menu, create a list of ingredients you’ll need. This will save you time and help you avoid multiple trips to the supermarket.  Get any items that need to be delivered and ordered first. Remember lots of companies will send straight to your bach.  We even send to the marina. Don’t forget to include ingredients for non-drinkers.

3. **Prep Ahead:** If you can, do some prep work beforehand. Chop veggies, marinate proteins, or even bake some desserts and pop into the freezer earlier in the week. This will help you enjoy the weekend without being stuck in the kitchen for hours.

4. **Think About Drinks:** Variety is key with drinks. Stock up on, sparkling waters, methodes, champagnes, reds, whites and alcohol-removed wines or 0 alcohol beers. It’s great to have a few signature drinks for the weekend. Elevate the vibe!

5. **Stay Flexible:** While planning is essential, having the flexibility to change things up can be refreshing. If the weather is great, consider a picnic or a BBQ instead of a cozy dinner indoors.

6. **Make it Fun:** Involve your friends and family in the cooking! Preparing food together can be a fun bonding experience. You might even want to designate a ‘theme night’—like a taco night or a pizza party.

7. **Don’t Forget Snacks:** Long weekends provide ample opportunities for snacking. Fill your pantry with easy-to-grab platter options like olives, hummus, pesto, deli meats, and pates.  A good selection of crackers  is usefull too, see our blog post on great crackersand dippers click here. Having a few healthier options around, like fruits and nuts, is also a good idea and super easy in Spring and Summer.

8. **Relax and Enjoy:** Finally, give yourself permission to relax and enjoy the process. The long weekend is for unwinding, so once everything is set, take a moment to reflect and enjoy the time with loved ones.

Here’s to a fantastic long weekend filled with good food, great drinks, and even better company! Cheers! 🥳🍽️🍹

Glassware

Glasses can be such a unique identifier.  Perhaps you are of the made local camp, or handmade and French.  Or long to be effortlessly cool serving wine in a tumbler.  Having the perfect glass for the exact wine might be your preference.  Or perhaps you lean toward the crème-de-la crème and only the most bourgie will do.

Easy Mezze; Crackers and Dipper Suggestions

We all have our preferences when it comes to crackers and dippers, these are my favourites this year. I try to match flavour profiles and styles to what I am serving.  Otherwise, crisp fresh and robust are my watchwords when shopping for mezze accompaniments.
