An isolated little cove in Queen Charlotte Sound. Near the entrance to the Cook Strait, might not be an obvious destination to sample some of the finest food and drink. But if you're in the Marlborough region, the Punga Cove Resort, is worth seeking out. Sheltered in the Endeavour Inlet, Punga Cove delivers two top-notch restaurants: The Boatshed Café and Bar and the Punga Fern Restaurant. Located at the end of the jetty, the Boatshed Café serves up tasty pizzas: just what trampers and mountain bikers on the Queen Charlotte Track need. Uphill, beyond the A-frame guest cottages, the Punga Fern Restaurant serves a slightly more sophisticated menu. With local wines to match. Oh, and did we mention the views? Come for the food, stay for the views; or vice versa.
