This stylish and welcoming joint with an outstanding modern French bistro-inspired menu is the place to be. Having teased us by daylighting from the front window with the best pies in Auckland (PieRolla's) I have been itching to get down to St. Margs.
With great excitement, we descended for dinner into a table of 6 to try as much of the menu as possible.
Food that seems simple often involves quite a bit of skill, this is confident hospitality experts Fran Mazza and Aaron Carson in their element.
We actually fell apart over a number of the menu items, Milk Garlic Bread that was sumptuous, memorable crudo and tartare, venison in hot water pastry with bone and marrow intact Brilliant. We had Margot's Chicken and a Pan Fried Flounder that took me back to a Northland where everything was fried perfectly in butter.
The wine menu is equally skilled, even inspiring me to load a few more on. Notably enjoyed at our table was the Dicey Pinot Noir.
These guys run a different lunch menu and a Sunday Roast which I have had excellent reports about. They have only been open a short while and have already gathered some great reviews. With the Herald calling it one of the best openings of 2024 and an equally great overview from The Urban List.
The address is 469 Karangahape Road, Auckland
Without a doubt a must-visit addition to the Auckland food scene.
From auspicious and trendy beginnings in a food truck behind music studios in Penrose, Little Sicily now has a permanent home in a main road Onehunga pub.
The address is 190 Onehunga Mall (in the old sense of the word, i.e main street) Parking is around the back, but we found plenty of parking on the street on a Sunday.
