Tasting Notes: Cherry red with a ruby shimmer, intense fruity (plums, berry), spicy, animal notes medium-bodied, structured, fresh, present tannins, refined bitter.
Savour with beef, lamb, venison or robust cheeses.
Lagrein at Alois Lageder: Lagrein, a native of the Alto-Adige first mentioned in documents dating back to 1370, has intense colour, with great mouthfeel and typically Italian balance of fruit and rusticity.
Local recommendations:Loved by NZ-based Andrea Martinisi 14th ranked Sommellier in the World.
The palate is intense and generous. The dark fruits are balanced by the savoury notes of game meat, herbs and spices such as bay leaf and pepper. The richness of the meatballs is counterbalanced by the freshness of the wine and silky tannins.
