Timing: Best to be drunk 2-6 years
Lagrein at Alois Lageder: Lagrein, a native of the Alto-Adige first mentioned in documents dating back to 1370, intense color, with great mouthfeel and typically Italian balance of fruit and rusticity.
Local reccomendations: Loved by NZ based Andrea Martinisi 14th ranked Sommellier in the World.
The palate is intense and generous. The dark fruits are balanced by the savoury notes of game meat, herbs and spices such as bay leaf and pepper. The richness of the meatballs is counterbalanced by the freshness of the wine and silky tannins.
