“A wild, complex take on Sauvignon Blanc - serious structure and soul.”
› Tasting Notes

Barrel-fermented and wild, this is Sauvignon Blanc with serious structure and soul. The 2020 vintage is layered with flinty minerality, toasted citrus, and savoury nut notes — more Burgundian in feel, yet still unmistakably Marlborough. For lovers of complexity, texture, and quiet power.

› Food Pairing

Serve with chargrilled prawns, creamy mushroom risotto, or roast chicken with tarragon. This wine also plays beautifully with smoked salmon, goat’s cheese, and nutty vegetarian dishes. Elegant and savoury, it's a versatile partner for refined flavour combinations.

› 2020 Vintage Context

The 2020 harvest took place under New Zealand’s nationwide lockdown. Physical distancing in the vineyard and winery became essential, but the team at Dog Point adapted swiftly and safely. You can read more about their approach during that time in this press release from the time hosted on the site of Cameron Douglas MS →

My family visited the vineyard when restrictions had lifted and found a team quietly confident that they had made all the right choices under pressure, the result is a vintage full of character, tension, and detail.

› About the Producer

Dog Point Vineyard is located at the confluence of the Brancott and Omaka Valleys in Marlborough, New Zealand’s premium wine-growing region, and is one of the oldest privately established vineyards in the area.

They produce four wines, including a classic Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc, the more textural Section 94 (fermented and aged in older French oak), a Chardonnay, and a Pinot Noir.

All fruit is hand-picked from low-cropped vines grown in New Zealand’s largest Biogro-certified organic vineyard. With a low-intervention, hands-off approach, their wines are vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free — and built to cellar beautifully.
