Greystone Organic Pinot Gris 2024 is a rich, textural white from the Omihi hills of North Canterbury.
BioGro Organic | North Canterbury | 95 Points Wine Orbit
Tasting Notes
Ripe nashi, vanilla pod, and nectarines with subtle baking spices on the nose and palate provide weight to the wine. Quince jelly and orange peel notes with an underlying creaminess provide layers, textures and complexity.
A weighty, organic Pinot Gris with real texture and spice, a step up from the everyday.
Why you'll love it: A Pinot Gris with genuine substance, ripe and spiced and textural, made for the table rather than just sipping on its own.
Reviews
95 points, Sam Kim, Wine Orbit (2024 vintage): It's finely expressed on the nose, showing apricot, fig, poached pear, and subtle spice aromas. The palate displays excellent weight and focus, wonderfully complemented by fleshy texture and beautifully pitched acidity. Harmonious and elegantly complex with a sustained, delectable finish. At its best: now to 2032.
93 points, Excellent, Cameron Douglas MS, June 2025: "both delicious on its own and food friendly."
About Greystone
Greystone sits on the limestone slopes of the Omihi hills in the Waipara Valley, North Canterbury, where the Thomas family planted the estate from 2000. Every wine is estate-grown, fully certified organic with BioGro New Zealand, and grown, made and bottled on site, with Dom Maxwell winemaking since the early days. The north-facing limestone hills give the wines their mineral drive and concentration, and a minimal-intervention philosophy lets the soil, vines and season speak for themselves.
Perfect with roast pork, a creamy risotto, or mild Asian spice. The wine's weight and spice stand up to richer dishes and a touch of heat.
