La Mascota Malbec Tasting Notes:

shows an intense purple red colour with ruby hues. Aromas of black fruits, jam and vanilla, with a subtle liquorice touch. Sweet attack and full bodied tannins. Long and pleasant finish.

Classic Argentine Malbec from Cruz de Piedra—early harvest in a warm vintage delivers refreshing violet notes alongside ripe fruit character at an elegant 13.5% alcohol.

Reviews

Patricio Tapia, Descorchados - 2023 Vintage: "This is a selection of vineyards in the Cruz de Piedra area, harvested early in a very warm season like 2023. This explains the low alcohol of this wine (13.5º) and the refreshing aromas of violets amidst ripe red fruits. The palate is soft and juicy. 100% was aged for 9 months in old barrels, which has added some spice to the mix."

James Suckling - 2023 Vintage (February 2024): "Hawthorn fruit, ripe cherries and liquorice on the nose. Simple and fruity on the palate with a medium body and lightly chewy tannins. Simple, fruit-driven finish. Drink now."

The Vineyard

Sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Cruz de Piedra, Maipú, where 97 hectares of vines grow on alluvial clay-loam soils at 850 metres elevation. The 2023 vintage was particularly warm, prompting an early harvest to maintain freshness and balance. The wine was aged for 9 months in old oak barrels, adding subtle complexity without overwhelming the pure fruit character.

Perfect with grilled steak, beef empanadas, or slow-roasted lamb shoulder. The soft tannins and juicy fruit character complement rich, savoury dishes whilst the refreshing violet notes provide balance to grilled meats.
