Abruzzo Pecorino | Crisp and Mineral | Food-Friendly
Tasting Notes
Rich in minerality, with hints of hawthorn, exotic fruits and honey. To the palate, it reveals itself to be fresh, crisp, dry and honest! The fruity notes are harmoniously balanced by the body and the acidity.
The Abruzzo white wine lovers are switching to: crisp, mineral and savoury.
Why you'll love it: Pecorino is the grape to know if you have worn out Pinot Grigio. It keeps the easy freshness but adds real texture and a savoury, mineral edge, lovely as an aperitif and a natural with seafood.
The Grape
Pecorino is an old Abruzzo white variety that nearly disappeared before a recent revival. Naturally low-yielding, it makes dry, structured whites with citrus, herb and mineral character and more depth than most everyday Italian whites.
About Fattoria La Valentina
Fattoria La Valentina was founded in 1990 on the hills above Spoltore, near Pescara on Italy's Adriatic coast, and has been run since its first 1994 vintage by the Di Properzio family. Working with consulting oenologist Luca D'Attoma since 1998, the estate stays true to Abruzzo's native grapes, Montepulciano, Trebbiano and the once-forgotten Pecorino, and farms with a strong commitment to sustainability and minimal intervention. The aim from the start has been simple: restaurant-quality, authentically Abruzzese wines that carry the mark of their land.
Perfect with grilled fish, prawn linguine, or a plate of antipasti. Its acidity and mineral cut work beautifully with seafood and salty starters.
