700+ grower cooperative | Southern Italian authenticity
Tasting Notes Malana Primitivo
This Primitivo is voluptuous and concentrated, offering layers of ripe blue fruits, black cherries, and plum, enriched with notes of chocolate, vanilla, and a subtle earthy hint of sun-baked soils. Soft and velvety on the palate, it is perfectly balanced, crowd-pleasing, and deeply satisfying, a decadent expression of southern Italy.
Authentic southern Italian expression—voluptuous, crowd-pleasing, and deeply satisfying with traditional bush vine character.
The Tradition
Traditional bush-trained vines and coastal/inland terroir diversity create the authentic character that defines genuine Primitivo di Manduria.
About the Cooperative
What began in the early 1960s as a small, close-knit group of growers has evolved into a 700+ member cooperative united by tradition and skill. Their vision to transform grapes into wines of depth and character has created authentic Primitivo di Manduria that captures the essence of southern Italian winemaking.
The story of Primitivo di Manduria begins in the early 1960s, when a small, close-knit group of dedicated growers came together to establish a winery. Their vision was to transform their grapes into wines of depth and character, just as the market was beginning to appreciate bold, full-bodied styles.
From those humble beginnings, the cooperative has grown to more than 700 growers, united by tradition and skill, producing authentic Primitivo di Manduria from the provinces of Taranto and Brindisi. The vineyards stretch across both coastal zones and inland sites, with traditional bush-trained vines thriving under the southern sun and influenced by the cooling breezes of the Ionian Sea.
