Tasting Notes

Complex and seductively styled, showing dark berry, tapenade, cured meat, dried mushroom, and elegant oak characters on the nose, leading to a concentrated palate offering excellent depth and expansive mouthfeel. The wine combined power and grace with a sustained, alluring finish.

The flagship of the Nevis Bluff cellar, and a true special-occasion Central Otago Pinot Noir.

Why you'll love it: This is Pinot Noir at full stretch, depth, savoury complexity and a long finish, in a wooden gift box that makes it a ready-to-give present for someone who appreciates the very best of the region.

The Vineyard

The fruit is grown on the L'Attitude Vineyard on the shores of Lake Dunstan, in the Pisa sub-region of the Cromwell basin. Hand-selected grapes were picked in early April 2024, fully destemmed and fermented in barrel, then aged in French oak (33% new), with malolactic fermentation. The wine is vegan friendly and will reward careful cellaring for 10 years or more.

About Nevis Bluff

Nevis Bluff has been a Central Otago specialist since 1998, named for the rugged rock bluff that guards the gorge road into the region. The wines are grown on the L'Attitude Vineyard on the shores of Lake Dunstan, in the Pisa sub-region of the Cromwell basin, planted in Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc and certified sustainable through Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. From the 2024 vintage, the wines are crafted by acclaimed Central Otago winemaker Matt Connell, known for expressive, site-driven wines built on quality and consistency.

Perfect with duck breast with a cherry glaze, or a rack of lamb with rosemary and garlic. The wine's depth and fine tannins stand up beautifully to rich, savoury roasts.
