Tasting Notes

Very high-quality fruit and excellent physiological ripeness allowed for a generous inclusion of whole bunches in the ferment, adding spice and texture to the wine, and further complexity and harmony was encouraged with extended maturation in barrel.

The Art

The Art is the meeting of art and science in the cellar. The science is well defined, but the art is harder to pin down: it is born of the individual winemaker and their muse. For this wine, Rockburn's winemaker is given free rein to practise that artistry, drawing on fruit from a single vineyard site high in the Dunstan foothills that speaks with great eloquence of its origins.

About Rockburn

Rockburn takes its name from the rugged, rock-strewn, burn-scarred landscape of Central Otago. The producer draws fruit from vineyards in the Gibbston Valley and at Parkburn, cool, high-country sites that give its Pinot Noir vivid aromatics, fine structure and a clear sense of place.

Perfect with roasted duck, lamb rack, or wild mushrooms. The structure and spice match game and earthy flavours over the next decade.
