Central Otago | Bannockburn | Inaugural Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes
The inaugural release of Swiftsure Bannockburn Pinot Noir has a powerful aromatic profile, both fruitful and savoury, with boysenberry, rhubarb and cherry blossom interwoven with tendrils of smoke and a faint scent of nori. The palate shows good density, with a succession of berry fruit characters and a touch more of the umami feel. The tannins are wrapped in the warmth of vintage days, with a vibrancy that evokes the cool, jewelled Central Otago night sky.
A complex, savoury Central Otago Pinot with real density and cellaring potential.
Why you'll love it: a striking debut Central Otago Pinot, fragrant, savoury and structured, lovely now and built to reward time in the cellar.
Reviews
95 points, Cameron Douglas MS (2023): "Distinctive, complex and enticing bouquet of ripe dark-skinned cherry and baked raspberry."
About Swiftsure
Swiftsure was born from a reverence for New Zealand's beautiful, unforgiving southern landscapes and the world-class wines they produce. The vineyards sit at two extremes of the Southern Alps, in Marlborough and in Bannockburn, Central Otago, along the South Island's Alpine Fault.
Perfect with roast duck breast, wild mushroom ragù, or creamy cheeses like brie or taleggio.
