Tasting Notes for Vecchia Montepulciano
This Vino Nobile shows a vivid ruby-red colour with violet reflections. The nose is fresh and persistent, layered with bright red berry fruits, jammy notes, and subtle violet. With age, the wine develops hints of spice, adding further depth. On the palate, it is well-structured and savoury, with excellent freshness and a balanced interplay of tannins and acidity. Versatile and food-friendly, it pairs beautifully with roasted meats and medium-aged cheeses.
Italy's first DOCG wine and symbol of prestige—versatile and food-friendly with excellent structure and freshness.
The Recognition
Among the first Italian wines to receive controlled designation (DOC in 1966) and became Italy's very first DOCG in 1980, cementing its prestigious status.
About Vecchia Cantina

For more than 80 years, it has been a regional cornerstone, helping sustain and promote Montepulciano's identity, culture, and traditions—particularly crucial in post-World War II reconstruction years.
