Windrush Organic Pinot Noir is a single-vineyard wine from the Andahlane Vineyard on Conders Bend Road, Marlborough, where Callum and Sarah Linklater have farmed organically from the day the vines were planted in 2012.

Tasting Notes

Fresh summer berries, omega plum, dark cherries, baking spice and a hint of earthy mushrooms. Silky tannins hold together with a toasty mocha finish.

The Vineyard and Winemaking

The Andahlane Vineyard on Conders Bend Road has very stony soils at the north end and silty soils at the south end, planted in 2012 with clones 777 and 828 under organic certification from the start. The grapes are hand-picked and destemmed into open-top fermenters, cold-soaked for three days with daily pump-overs and gentle hand plunging. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts before the wine is gently pressed to barrel (16% new oak) where malolactic fermentation completes naturally.

About Windrush Organic

Callum and Sarah Linklater are second-generation organic growers based in Marlborough. Callum's father Bill began the family's organic farming journey with sheep and beef in Otago, questioning the need for chemicals that hadn't been required in earlier generations. When the family moved to Marlborough in 2008, organic certification followed naturally. Windrush is the name of the family's first vineyard. The Linklaters grow Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc across certified organic vineyards surrounding Renwick, BioGro certified number 5186.

Perfect with duck breast with cherry jus, a slow-roasted lamb shoulder, or a wild mushroom and walnut pasta. The silky tannins and earthy red-fruit character are made for the dinner table.
