Piedmont Red | Barbera d'Alba Superiore | Juicy, Vibrant and Food-Friendly
Tasting Notes
Hints of peach, plum, and cherry, which balance a subtle, sweet fragrance, with a deeper, richer, and slightly jammy aroma. Good minerality adds complexity and depth to the wine, while acidity provides a crisp and lively mouthfeel.
An authentic, everyday expression of Piedmontese charm, generous and balanced.
Why you'll love it: naturally low in tannin but high in acidity, it is smooth, vibrant and easy to love, whether with pizza, pasta or simply on its own.
About Barbera: Piedmont's go-to red, deeply coloured and bursting with dark cherry, plum and soft spice. Naturally low in tannin but high in acidity, it delivers bold flavour with a fresh, food-friendly edge.
If you enjoy Barbera, try these too:
Chianti – bright cherry and food-friendly acidity, with a touch more herbal character.
Valpolicella Superiore – light, juicy and easy-drinking with soft spice.
Pinot Noir – especially from NZ, it shares Barbera's freshness and red fruit charm.
Gamay (Beaujolais) – floral, light-bodied and packed with red berry flavour.
About Fontanabianca
At Fontanabianca the conviction is simple: quality comes from the soil. In the village of Neive, in the heart of Barbaresco, Aldo Pola and his family continue the work Aldo's father Franco began in 1969. The winery sits in the hamlet of Bordini, surrounded by vines that seem to run beyond the horizon. Ageing takes place in large oak botti, with smaller barriques used to refine the wines while preserving the character of the fruit.
Perfect with: pizza, tomato-based pasta, charcuterie, or roast pork.
