Tasting Note:
The colour is inky, almost black, yet the nose has a brightness that complements the dark fruit and violet florals of this classic cool climate Malbec from an outstanding vintage. The palate is full bodied with cassis and dark damson plum flavours, rich and complex. A big but not at all heavy wine of great harmony and well-integrated tannins that finishes with good tension and freshness.
Winemaker’s comments:
The 2019 Malbec matured for 23 months in French oak barrels in our temperature-controlled cellar without any sulphur and was bottled without fining or filtration. A very small sulphur addition was made just prior bottling to safeguard the wines stability for the future. Venison, beef and lamb from the BBQ or a stew with a nice sauce just go for it. Beautiful with cold cheese and meat platters or enjoy this wine just on its own.
About Fromm:
FROMM have always loved Pinot Noir and showed both faith and foresight that it could thrive in Marlborough, planting Pinot vines in 1990. Their first attempt at the variety validated this belief with International success and acclaim and consequently helped put both Fromm and Marlborough on the international Pinot Noir map. From here the region’s Pinot industry bloomed and is now easily New Zealand’s largest Pinot Noir producing area. Fromm, though, has remained staunchly boutique choosing to produce no more than 7,000 cases a year. With a quality without compromise attitude Fromm also makes fine examples of Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Syrah and Rosé. All the wines are certified organic through BioGro.

Opaque at the core with dark purple and ruby hues. A youthful and complex bouquet centering on scents of dark berries and baking spices, a natural earthy quality and sense of place. Taut and youthful on the palate with firm, ripe with textures of tannin and squeeze of acidity. Dark berries and clove, baked plum, violets and vanilla. A complex and delicious wine that will age well offering excellent food pairing or a fine glass of wine on its own. Best drinking from 2025 through 2035+.
